High School and Piercings
High School, the best time of our lives
. We will have our ups and downs, good and bad days and grades as we try to define ourselves for the future. High school is also the time when many teenagers want to do body modifications. They see cute piercings or tattoos on other people and want to get them because they like the way they look. But they do not think about the consequences. Let’s take a look at some of the more common piercings.
First we have the ears. 13% of our nation have non-lobe ear piercings. Ear piercings are not considered very alternative or eccentric. They are pretty simple to take care of and they are allowed in many workplaces.
Next, we have nose piercings. 19% of people in the United States have one. From personal experience, it is pretty painful to get a nose piercing but if you ever regret your decision and want to get rid of it, it will only leave a tiny scar afterwards.
Moving on, we have tongue rings. 10% of people in America have a tongue ring. The healing process of a tongue piercing will take a long time and it is not appreciated by many schools or workplaces.
Finally, we have the most common piercing in the United States and that is a belly button piercing. A belly button piercing is a great piercing if you are working in a professional setting, since you will not be showing your belly. Belly piercings are not painful to get and research shows that many people love the way they look.
Now let's talk about how piercings, especially facial ones that can affect your life and career. Many jobs do not allow piercings and if they do, they often have a limit. If you want to become a news reporter or a model, you obviously do not want to get any facial piercings like lip, dimple, eyebrow etc. since they will cause a scar and that can affect your career. Be very careful before getting a body modification and do your research! Take care and be safe.
