Injustice in Syria

After a Russian plane was shot out of the sky, the Syrian army with support from Russia launched heavy shelling for four straight days from February 5th to the 8th on Eastern Ghouta, which is east of the countries capital. The shelling caused more than 229 deaths; out of the 229 58 were children. In addition, there were at least 700 civilians that were also injured because of the bombings. Note that all of these numbers do not include any Syrian rebels but people not involved in the rebellion.

To make matters even more worse, the Syrian army hit three medical facilities during the strikes. This caused the hundreds of injured civilians to lose places that they could get the help they need. The area has been under siege by the Syrian army for four years and now the Syrian army is ramping up aggression in the region. What many people are unaware of is the drastic impact the siege has had on the Syrian children. The area is short on medical supplies for children injured in the attacks. Furthermore, the kids who are well are suffering from malnutrition due to low amounts of food.

The Syrian children have also been unable to attend school due to the constant attacks that come in from the Syrian army. This prevents the children from obtaining things a child needs while growing up. With the news of more and more children getting into peril, the UN has called for a ceasefire in the area so that aid can be delivered to save the children by getting them the food and medical supplies they desperately need.
