Apple Is Going Green

One of the biggest tech companies in the world were able to fully go green. This means every aspect of the company will be powered by completely clean energy. Every single retail store, data center, and corporate office will be earth friendly. The initiative doesn’t just cover all of America, but every Apple facility over 43 countries.

The green energy that Apple will be using comes from varied sources. Some sources are wind farms, and solar technology. Apple, in their project to be fully green, has paved the way to new concepts for clean energy such as micro-hydro generation systems and biogas fuel cells which both create electricity. Apple has also managed to get their suppliers to commit to the same objective of being completely powered by green energy.

With the announcement of Apple now being 100% clean energy came nine of Apple’s suppliers joining the movement. With the new commitments, Apple now has 23 suppliers who have committed to clean energy. Denmark is going to be the latest country to get Apple facilities on their soil as Apple is building two new facilities there. Apple is not the first tech giant to have its whole company use green energy, last year google was able to reach 100 percent of their company’s energy from renewable sources.

Microsoft, like Google and Apple, will be joining the fully clean energy movement for the foreseeable future. By 2030, Microsoft wishes to have current carbon emissions lowered by 75 percent. By deciding to go fully green these tech companies are planning for the future. Not just for the integrity of the Earth but for their own companies as going for clean energy will be the cheaper option for energy in the future.
