April in Spain
This year’s school Spain trip is a trip that I will never forget. Our group of eight students was led by Mrs. Perez and Ms. Ginsburg through many beautiful Spanish cities and historic sights. We traveled to Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Costa del Sol, taking full day tours to enjoy the scenery. Within these tours were gorgeous sites such as Park Guell in Barcelona and La Alhambra in Granada, the city of pomegranates. There were also many historical cathedrals such as La Sagrada Familia, the famous cathedral that has been in the making for over a century, and El Mosque, the Muslim mosque in Cordoba that was transformed into a cathedral in the 13th century. We also learned about how the Muslim and Catholic cultures formed Spain into the country it is today. In Madrid, we even had the pleasure of taking a tour through the Royal Palace.
In Seville, we got to see the tomb of Christopher Columbus as well as explore the Plaza de Espana. The weather there was beautiful and our hotel even had a pool. Our free time consisted of exploring the beautiful cities on our own, and we even got to take a segway tour of Costa del Sol on our last day there.
We had the opportunity to try real Spanish food including paella, and bought many souvenirs for the people back here. There was a lot of walking around and sometimes we even didn’t know where to go. However, it was an opportunity for me to practice my Spanish. Although the nine hour plane ride was a bit of a hassle, it was definitely worth it.
Overall, this trip was an amazing experience. I learned a lot about the Spanish culture and will never forget all of the beautiful places we visited. It was a great time spent with friends, and I would absolutely go back if I could.
