“An Ode to Mr. Ludwig”

With the holiday season in full swing, it is important to reflect and identify reasons to be grateful. There are many people in our lives who impact us in different ways and have helped us work toward our goals. Whether it is a teacher, a counselor, an administrator, a family member or a friend, it is important that you let them know how grateful you are for how they have helped or supported you.

Being responsible for the needs of 1200 students and balancing those needs with 200 instructors and support staff is incredibly challenging. It is why I am grateful for having a strong supporting cast consisting of individuals with many different skills surrounding me.

I would like to recognize one individual for his support and help he provided throughout my career. Whether in my current role as the school leader or former roles as the association leader and instructor, Mr. Ludwig has always been a tremendous advocate and sounding board for me. Mr. Ludwig has also supported many school initiatives. He has helped to find creative solutions for improving our school for our staff and students. Furthermore, at the twilight of his career, he continuously challenged himself and sought ways to grow as a professional.

Unfortunately, we are saying goodbye to Mr. Ludwig at the end of the month as he embarks on a new path. For thirty plus years, Mr. Ludwig has served Cliffside Park Schools as an English teacher, Audio/Video Coordinator, Guidance Counselor at both the High School and Middle School, and Head Counselor.

I am very thankful for having the opportunity to work with and learn from Mr. Ludwig. He has been a tremendous advocate for both students and staff. Most importantly, he has been instrumental in driving scheduling and programming at Cliffside Park High School to meet the various needs of students.

I wish Mr. Ludwig a rewarding and fulfilling retirement as he starts the next chapter of his life. His intellect, rationale, humor, integrity, and guidance will be missed by all. But it is his friendly advice and passion for school improvement that we shared that I am most grateful for, and will personally miss the most.

Thank you.
