Spring Sports Preview
SOFTBALL
Coach: Brooke Bigler Captains and great returning players: Amanda Armstrong & Ashley Olivelli Top Freshmen: Alexa Bigler, Nevaeh Cabrera, Julianna Baldwin
We are a very young team (8 out of 13 freshman), with the help of our 2 leaders we will strive to reach the 500 mark. Our strengths lie in our hitting and defensive strategies. Each player is working to improve their fundamentals and to live up to our hard working reputation. We have a very rare group of freshman who have played together for 5 years and have been very successful on the lower levels. With the right leadership, this team has the ability to do some special things.
BOYS TENNIS
Coach: Mr. Jannucci Captain: Uesli Keta Top freshmen: Santiago Flores, Cristian Argueta
How do you see the season turning out? What elements contribute to this perspective? This year's team has an entirely new look. We have a lot of players new to varsity, but we also have several players with tons of raw talent. Hopefully, we will be a tough team to play against and earn some W's. Our goals this season are to improve with each match and develop a strong team mentality. To do this, we are focused on the mental aspects of the game along with the core fundamentals needed to improve. A lot of other teams will underestimate us because of our inexperience but I believe in this group and I'm confident that they will keep gaining strength.
TRACK
Coaches: Lindsey Reggo, Jamie Woyce, Tom Mandile, Sean MacIsaaic, Gabby DePena
Team leaders: Ivan Hilario, Weleed Masoud, Ana Lisanin, Ileana Romano, Destiny Cameron
We have a large group of returning players who bring their unique skill to each event. For the boys, the sprinters are led by sophomore Lukkas Londono in the 100, 200, 400 and Long Jump and Senior Ivan Hilario in the high hurdles and intermediate hurdles, and the 400. These two will score most of our team points. The girls team is very strong with the distance team. It is lead by sophomores Kelsey Periera, and Samantha Arcila and juniors Veronica Calderon and Buket Kayabas. Senior Destiny Cameron is not only the best thrower on the team but also one of the best in the league. We also have a decent amount of new young athletes out this season and look forward to watching them develop. They are the future of the program and show a lot of promise. Track is a very technical sport. We want the young athletes to learn all aspects of the sport which in the future will lead to success.
Our new league is very competitive. Our goal this season every race it to be better than we were the last time. We are looking to make huge improvements as the season goes on to meet and exceed personal bests. We also hope to have a bunch of athletes qualify for the Bergen County Meet of Champions and the State Meets.

This is another season learning the sport and getting better daily. Golf is difficult and challenging and the team is taking it head on. Our plans for the season are focused on continuing to improve our scores and enjoy the process of learning. We are currently working on strong ball striking. The team works hard at the range, showing up with a positive attitude and an eagerness to improve.
