Get to Know Your New Teachers at CPHS

With every year, there will always be new students and teachers who will leave a mark on Cliffside Park’s history. Ms. Solano, a new teacher here at CPHS, is currently teaching Spanish 1 and 2 on the second floor, and Mr. Nguyen is a new teacher for both English and Business.

Before she became a teacher, Ms. Solano went to three different universities in three different states. Ms. Solano decided to teach Spanish because she feels that Spanish is an important language for students to learn, as it is one of the most common languages in the world today. She chose teaching as her career because she enjoys teaching students different languages. Her interests outside of school include going to gym and traveling. In fact, Ms. Solano has traveled to many places in

the United States. She has visited many states, including: Arizona, Florida, Texas, and California, along with popular tourist destinations like Washington D.C. and Las Vegas.

Ms. Solano’s first impression of Cliffside Park High School is that the students and staff seem to get along well with one another. As for her expectations for the school year, Ms. Solano expects to have a successful year!

Mr. Nguyen, who will be teaching English and Business, will take over during Mrs. Witty’s absence. Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Nguyen served as the student government representative of his high school clubs and attended William Paterson University. He is teaching English as one of his subjects because he struggled to learn the language when he was young, and he wants to help others learn the language. Mr. Nguyen decided to become a teacher because he wanted to help students find their strengths in various subjects and help them grow these strengths over time.

Mr. Nguyen also notes that he was attracted to the diversity of Cliffside Park High School. So far, he is impressed by how active the school community is, describing the students as energetic and kind. His interests outside of school include traveling around the world, similar to Ms. Solano. He has been to Iceland, Belgium, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. As for his expectations for this year, he hopes that he will get to see each of his students grow and that the positive experiences that they have here at CPHS will stay with them for the years to come.

Let’s welcome Ms. Solano and Mr. Nguyen to our great community here at Cliffside Park High School!
