Mr. Lazar, a Math All-Star

Mr. Lazar - Math Teacher Aliya Laliwala Math skills are essential in life, and to develop these skills, great math teachers are essential for school! This year we not only have one new face in the math department, we have two! Mr. Lazar is another one of our newest additions to the math department here at CPHS.

Mr. Lazar is very excited to be teaching at our high school. He completed his Bachelors and Master’s degree at a college in Jerusalem. Mr. Lazar has a lot of experience with math, as well as a passion for teaching. He had always enjoyed math growing up and was very good at it. He decided to follow his passion and become a math teacher.

This year is Mr. Lazar’s seventh year teaching math, and he loves working with students and explaining to them the techniques and concepts behind it. One of the main reasons why he was inspired to become a math teacher is because he has the ability to explain the logic behind the formulas by analyzing the data, not just having the student memorizing the formulas. So being a math teacher is not only Mr. Lazar’s passion, but it is also a way to have a new generation of students understand the concepts of math.

Since Mr. Lazar is interested in reading about math, science, space, and technology he uses many technologies in his classroom to give the student a better education every day. He uses google classroom, ixl, and youtube to make learning math more fun.

Mr. Lazar believes the best way for a student to excel on the math portions of the PSATs is to keep on practicing and knowing the basics of math. He wants his students to know that it is up to them, there is no ceiling, and they can reach whatever goal they want, if they try and work hard.
