CPHS Bloodrive
This year, Cliffside Park High School is taking further steps to become active in volunteer activities, one of the most recent was hosting another blood drive. The drive, which took place on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 was a successful attempt to encourage volunteer activity within the school community. All of the blood donated by both students and staff at the high school is going to the Red Cross program.
Volunteers,
who had to be at least 16 years of age, aided in both recruiting donors and assisting in the recovery process once the donation was complete. Donors also had to be 16 to be eligible to make a donation, along with the consent of a parent of guardian.
Prior to making a donation, all donors were asked 40 questions about their health to ensure that they would be the best candidates to make a donation. Those who met all of the criteria on the questionnaires were then sent to get a sample of their blood taken. Once cleared, trained nurses took a pint of blood from each donor. The American Red Cross estimates that the 33 pints of blood collected from the event will help save 114 lives. To show their gratitude to the students of Cliffside Park High School, the American Red Cross will offer a scholarship of $250 to a senior this year.
A special thanks goes to Mr. Ranu, who was the coordinator of this event. With the help of the students and staff, Cliffside Park High School Blood Drive was enormously successful and the contributions made are sure to change local lives for the better.
