Reopening of MoMa Museum
After closing for renovation for four months, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) located on West 53rd Street, finally reopened at the end of last month. The museum has gotten a major creative facelift, along with a 47,000 square foot addition, increasing the amount of space by 30%.
“More than just a physical expansion, the new MoMA is a rethinking of how we share art with you. We’ve reinstalled the entire collection to share exhilarating and broad views of the art of our time in a way that is always evolving,” states a speaker for the museum.
A total of seven new exhibitions have been added, along with “The Paula and James Crown Creativity Lab”, which will house an art-making and thinking program. In the creativity lab, visitors are encouraged to “participate in lively conversations, engage with artists, make art, reflect and relax, and find suggestions for exploring the Museum.” The newest installation will be open to visitors on August 31, 2020.
The MoMA is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week. However, on Fridays and the first Thursday of each month, it’s doors are open until 9:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $25 and only $14 for students with an ID. For children 16 and under, admission is free.
MoMA is one of the museums that are worth visiting because it has some of the world's finest art collections. Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”, Salvador Dali’s “The Persistence of Memory”, and Andy Warhol's “Campbell's Soup Cans” are only a few of the many well-known works at the museum. It’s proximity, latest improvements, and famous works are all great reasons for a visit!
