What to look forward to in 2020

The commencement of the new decade is upon us, but do we really know exactly what we should anticipate? What new, invigorating things are we going to see in this new decade? With all of the negative events that have already taken place since the beginning of the new year, here are some more positive, interesting things to look forward to.

1. The 2020 Olympics

An extremely popular event that people look forward to every four years is the Olympics! This year, the admired games will take place in the tech-savvy city of Tokyo, Japan from July 24th to August 3rd. It is expected that 206 nations will be in attendance, with a total of 11,091 athletes participating.

2. The Mars Rover

NASA is striving to send their second rover to the red planet this upcoming summer. This rover is equipped to record more than ever before, incorporating 23 cameras and two microphones in its system. The launching of this rover will forever be a momentous development in scientific history.

3. A Total Eclipse

The Great South American Eclipse will be taking place again this year and many are planning on viewing this celestial attraction from Argentina. On December 14, the solar eclipse will shade the area, but there will be even more action, like the Geminid meteor shower that is scheduled to take place the night before. Also, Jupiter and Saturn will align a week later, making it the perfect geek trio.

4. The 2020 Presidential Election

Most teenagers may not find the 2020 presidential elections to be that significant to their daily lives, but it is important that you take the time to learn about each of the candidates and what their messages are. The election will happen in November, but primary elections have already begun. In addition, eleven states will be holding gubernatorial elections this year (for governor).
