Bringing It On at the Big North Championship

Cliffside Park’s varsity cheer team dominated the mat on Friday, February 7th at their last competition of the season. A bus full of supportive Cliffside Park students came to watch the cheer team in their final and, for some seniors, last ever high school performance. It was clear that the pressure was on, as this was their final chance to show all the hard work that they had put in over the entire season. From start to finish, the team showed that they were there to have fun and bring back a win for Cliffside Park.

When the music began, the excitement and energy of their performance radiated throughout the crowd. Stunt after stunt, every motion was executed perfectly. There is only one thing that could have contributed to such a flawless performance and that is teamwork. Cheer is a sport that relies heavily on teamwork, especially when it comes to stunting. If one person is not giving their all, none of the stunts will hit. It takes the coaches and the whole team giving their all to hit all of the challenging stunts that they did on Friday night.

By the end of the performance, the cheer team was able to maintain the same energy they started with. It takes a great team to pull off what Cliffside Park’s cheer team did on Friday. Having been there to experience most of their competitions, it is safe to say that this was one of the best performances of the season. The excitement radiated through every member of the team as they cheered their way off the mat, knowing that they had done everything perfectly. A crowd full of fans furthered motivated the team in their efforts to secure a victory.

Cliffside Park’s cheer team was able to redefine what it means to be a student athlete, as they had to attend school and then compete later that same day. Even after a full school day, each team member was able to bring their all to the very last competition of the season. On behalf of the Cliffside Park school community, congratulations to Cliffside Park’s cheer team and coaches for bringing home a great victory this 2020 season!
