Demi Lovato’s Powerful Return
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter, Demi Lovato, made a powerful return to the stage at the Grammy’s since news of her overdose surfaced. In 2018, Lovato relapsed a few months after celebrating her sixth year of sobriety. The star announced her relapse by releasing her hit single “Sober”, including the lyrics “We’ve been down this road before...I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.” One month after the release of the song, it was reported that she had overdosed and was rushed to the hospital.
Demi Lovato is back now, with a new story to tell. A few days before her unforgettable and touching performance of her new song, “Anyone”, she was interviewed by Apple Music, discussing her song and what she had been through. She revealed that “Anyone” was recorded just four days before her hospitalization from the overdose. Lovato said, “I was recording it in a state of mind where I felt I was okay, but clearly I wasn’t,” adding, “I even listen back to it and I’m like, ‘Gosh, I wish I could go back in time and help that version of myself.’”
Fans can only hope that Lovato will be able to get her career back on track after months of struggling and rehabilitation. On January 26th, she performed her new song and got incredible feedback for her vulnerability and strong vocals. The teary performance was one of the top 5 performances of the night, and the new song rose to #1 on iTunes in 24 countries.
The song is about her struggles with alcohol and loneliness back in the summer of 2018. Both the studio and live versions are available on all music platforms if you want to check them out. She said that the lyrics were “a cry for help” and reflected her mood right before and during what happened on July 24th. Demi is in a brighter place now that she’s sober and is expected to release a new single revealing what exactly happened on July 24th in the near future.
