Fashion at the Oscars
The Oscars, or Academy Awards, is a highly anticipated event that movie fans look forward to throughout the year. This year, the 92nd Oscar show, was broadcasted on the 9th of February. Many talented actors and actresses took the stage this year. The event was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Oddly enough, there was no host this year. What there was a lot of, however, was some very unique fashion choices.
Celebrities were spotted wearing dazzling pieces by luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, and Chanel. Peneolpe Cruz was seen wearing vintage Chanel from the spring/ summer 1995 haute couture collection. She wore a black, satin high-low gown with pearl detailing at the waist. She color coordinated her outfit by matching the black gown with a pair of black pointed-toe high heels.
Another memorable outfit from a celebrity on the red carpet was Natalie Portman’s stunning gown. She was dressed in a black Maria Grazia Chiuri dress, with a cape over it. Her dress was finished with gold embroidery, and her black cape allowed for a very regal look. Her dress was not just any ordinary dress, however. She made a feminist statement with this piece by having her designer stitch the names of female directors that have been overlooked by the Academy onto her cape.
Scarlett Johanson’s dress was a fan favorite for the night, flaunting a silver Oscar de la Renta gown that was sheer at the top and included a bold corset waist. The dress had a long train and an open back, which allowed her to show off her iconic back tattoo. This gown was sleeveless, with crystal detailing at the waist. Her gown was paired with two silver bracelets, tying the whole look together.
The fashion at this year’s Oscars were very attention-grabbing and may seem hard to pull off for some, but the celebrities on the red carpet pulled off their iconic looks quite effortlessly.
