Tracking a Team's Success
I recently met with Coach Reggo to discuss the progression of the track team over the years in the spirit of the upcoming spring track season. Coach Reggo stated that the track team has seen many team successes over the years, but recently, there have been more individual successes on the team than ever before. She made a point to tell me that some members of the team are extremely close to breaking school records.
Track has been at Cliffside Park High School since the school first opened, making it all the more impressive that some of the team’s current members are so close to breaking historic records. Coach Reggo highlighted two runners in particular that are extremely close to breaking school records. Even more impressive is the fact that both of these students are only juniors. The first of the two is Kelsey Pereira, who is only a few seconds away from beating the school's two mile record - a record that she is expected to break this coming spring. The other runner she mentioned that is very close to beating a school record is Lukkas Londono. He is only a few tenths of a second away from breaking the school record for sprinting.
Coach Reggo is very excited and proud to see that as only juniors, they have the determination and ability to break such historic records. She anticipates additional improvements and successes in each of their futures as seniors.
Coach Reggo is not only proud of these two runners, but of the entire team as a whole, noting that they have worked extremely hard at each practice and are all determined to improve. Coach Reggo is sorry to see that due to the Covid-19 virus, the season is on hold and her wonderful athletes are unable to show off their skills in a public arena.
