Coronavirus: Punishment or Blessing?
Wow, what has been happening over the past couple of weeks has been very out of the ordinary to say the least. However, it is safe to say that our experiences with online learning have been new and exciting for many of us. There are two ways we can view this difficult situation: we can either take it as a punishment or as a blessing. Of course, with more and more people losing their jobs, becoming ill, and dealing with loss, it is a difficult time for us all. But just sitting at home and worrying about our situation isn’t going to be of much help.
What we can do is continue to take the necessary precautions like washing our hands, practicing social distancing, and staying inside. Aside from these things, we should also be using this time off to be more productive. We can take this time to self-reflect on our own habits and lifestyles. We can also take this time to think about how we as a human race have been treating this Earth and how we can make it better. As a result of the worldwide lock downs and self-quarantine orders, there have been significantly fewer cars on the road, leading to a dramatic decrease in air pollution. With China being one of the most polluted and densely populated countries in the world, it is a major success that as of right now, the pollution rate in the country has been steadily decreasing.
The decreasing pollution rates around the globe as a result of the widespread lock downs are proof that, if we work together, we can save the environment. The coronavirus does not discriminate. No matter your race, religion, or color, this virus continues to affect people everywhere. Now is the time to reflect on our actions and recognize the positives instead of focusing on the negatives. We have been given a chance to break away from our normal routines and spend time with our families. We can use this time to learn a new skill or rediscover an old hobby that we no longer have time for.
The virus has presented its share of challenges, but it really can be a new beginning for us all. In this time of new beginnings, we are all blessed to have access to learning platforms and great teachers that others might not have. So, remember to be grateful and ready for the better days to come.
