Baseball Season

Written by: Rosaly Gomez

I recently had the chance to speak with Coach Scarzafava. We spoke about how this year’s baseball season went and some of his goals for his team’s next season. Here is what he had to say:

Q: How did your team perform this season?

A: Our team performed below expectations this season. Although we had a very young team this season, we underperformed. We set high standards for ourselves and we did not reach those marks.

Q: Were your expectations met for your team this season?

A: No, our goals that we set out before the season were not met this year.

Q: What do you plan to do next season to improve?

A: To improve moving into next season, our players must commit themselves to playing summer baseball, as well as getting into the weightroom on a consistent basis. These two things will help develop our team moving into next season.

Q: What advice would you give your players now that the season is over?

A: My advice is the same as it always is: Always put in the work and trust your work. Stay, the course, never get too high or too low, and just keep moving forward each day.

Q: What was the greatest challenge your team faced this season, and how did they overcome it? A: Currently we have 3 wins, 15 losses and 1 tie. There are 5 games remaining in the season and then possibly State Playoffs.

Thank you so much to Coach Scarzafava for contributing with today’s article. Hoping next year’s baseball season will be more successful. CPHS newspaper is rooting for the team on the last games of the season. Go raiders!
