CPHS Holiday Toy Drive for Pediatric Cancer

The holiday season is the perfect time to give to those less fortunate than ourselves, which is exactly what the Cliffside Park High School Support Group and Cliffside Park Girls Tennis Team did this holiday season! I reached out to Cliffside Park guidance counselor Dr. Meier for a bit of insight into the recent donations made by students and other locals to children with pediatric cancer.

Toward the end of the last year, Chief Kahn and Lt. Pierotti Jr. of the Fairview Police Department reached out to Dr. Meier and others asking for donations to purchase toys for children with pediatric cancer. Dr. Meier was happy to report that both the Cliffside Park High School Support Group and Girls Tennis Team were among those who eagerly contributed to the cause. When local families and businesses like Larry's Florist, Schmitt Realty, Mancini Electric, and The Muir Family learned of the student's donations, they happily matched the student's gift to the children with cancer.

A total of $386.00 was donated to the cause by students and faculty at Cliffside Park High School. With all of the challenges that we have faced in the past year and continue to face into the new year, Dr. Meier feels that it was his duty to share this story of kindness and positivity with the students and faculty of Cliffside Park High School.

All proceeds collected from the event were used to purchase toys for children with childhood cancer in the area to bring a smile to their faces this past holiday season. Here is what Dr. Meier had to say about the success of the event: "Thank you to the kind, caring, and wonderful Cliffside Park High School students that gave, who may have so little, yet gave so much. They gave this counselor hope!”
