Cross Country Hits the Pavement
Q: Who are your team captains?
A: We don’t really have captains because we have a lot of leaders, so on a day to day basis we elect someone to lead in stretches.
Q: Who are your returning star players?
A: Girls: Kelsey Pereira 12, Tasnim Eissa 11, Estela Aguliar 12
Boys: Antonio Rinaldi 11, Antony DeLaRoca 12, Noe Periera 11
Q: What makes a good leader for your team?
A: Someone that does the right thing at the right time. You don’t have to tell them to do it, it’s already being done. Someone that is a good role model for the rest of the team. They do well in school, at practice, and in society. Someone with a lot of character.
Q: What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?
A: Cross country runners are hard-working, driven student-athletes. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to run distance. It’s nice to work with a good group of kids that are focused, hard- working, and ready to do whatever it takes to do well.
Q: What makes your sport unique?
A: It takes a very determined, hard-working student athlete. Most people do not like running. These guys and girls choose to push themselves everyday.
Q: Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A: I have high hopes that the boys and girls will win the league championship. They are a very talented group of runners.
Q: What are you and the team working on in practices?
A: Early in the season and over the summer they were putting in a good base, so a lot of miles. As we are getting closer to the season, we are starting to work on their speed.
Q: What expectations do you have for your players?
A: I expect that they have high personal goals for themselves that they will accomplish along with the goals we have set for the team.
