Interviewing First Year Teachers at CPHS

Written by: Roe Jiataz

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and its behavior. Psychology can be fun with a new and exciting teacher. I am thrilled to have Mr. Webber as a teacher and to be a part of one of his first classes at CPHS. I was fortunate enough to interview him regarding how his first year at Cliffside Park High School went.

Q: What elective(s) do you teach?

Currently, I teach psychology as an elective.

Q: Why did you decide to teach those classes?

I have my MA in psychology. I also have a passion for it. It is definitely my favorite class to teach!

Q: What course work could students taking your class expect?

There is vocabulary, vocabulary assessments, occasional assignments related to the unit we are in, and some projects.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is interested in this field?

The class is useful to take since it gives you an overview of the many different possible fields of psychology.

Q: Why would this class be helpful for someone who was not interested in this class?

I find that my students really tend to enjoy some parts of the class. Psychology deals with a great deal more than some people realize. Also, mental health is something that we should all pay attention to.

Q: Why CPHS, why not any other high school?

I chose CPHS due to its diverse and positive learning environment. I have felt extremely welcome here and I strive to do the same for all my students!

Thank you to Mr. Webber for helping out with this article. I am delighted to hear that he had a great first year here.
