President Biden's First 100 Days
President Biden's First 100 Days

One of the most critical periods of a president's term is during the first 100 days of their presidency. The first 14 weeks of the term lays the foundation for the president's overall success with the people. Within the three hundred years of America being a democracy, citizens have been able to predict their president's legacy as a leader in this short time span. Presidents are expected to complete an extensive list of tasks designed by their cabinet and top advisors in order to address the country's most pressing issues.
The 46th President of the United States, President Joseph R. Biden, was met with a heavily divided, grieving nation upon his official arrival to the White House. Faced with a universal pandemic that has killed nearly a half million Americans and a plummeting employment rate, Biden will have his hands full in the coming months to correctly address the needs of all Americans during such a turbulent time. The wounds created by the lasting effects of racial injustices throughout our country and the climate change crisis will also demand Biden's attention. It is no surprise that many Americans are looking forward to the eventual rollout of President Biden's policies. In fact, Biden has already completed a handful of tasks in his first 22 days in office.
For starters, President Biden has already rejoined the Paris Agreement, which is an organization that is designed to combat and bring awareness to climate change - an initiative that President Trump pulled out of during his term. Biden has also restored broken ties with the World Health Organization, which is responsible for international public health. President Biden has made efforts to retract the “Muslim ban” that was implemented by the Trump Administration, which was dedicated to limiting immigration from predominantly Muslim countries. The “Muslim ban” was not the only ban that has been rescinded since Biden took office, as he has overturned the ban on transgender individuals joining the U.S. Army.
President Biden has also recently introduced his administration’s plans to halt the spread of Covid-19 and stimulate the U.S. economy. He intends to distribute about 100 million vaccines nationwide before hitting his 100th day in office, which has left many American uncertain about the success of such an ambitious goal. President Biden also plans on sending stimulus checks of up to $1,400 to Americans and increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour. However, problems are bound to arise for Biden, as his vaccine and stimulus agendas will both need Congressional approval before they can move forward.
As of now, it is not clear how much Republican support Biden has with the narrow Democratic majority within the chambers. Will President Biden successfully fulfill his agenda or will he be held back by the complications he faces?
