Q&A With CPHS Boys Basketball Coach Jano
Boys basketball is starting up again at CPHS for the 2021 season, and Coach Jano was eager to share his goals for this season!
Q. Who are your captains?
A. Captains are Andy Ramos and John Ferrera.
Q. Who are your returning star players?
A. We are returning as a very young and experienced team so we will need everybody to contribute.
Q. What makes a good leader for your team?
A. A good leader is someone who is vocal with their voice, as well as with their actions.
Q. What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?
A. The best part is definitely bonding with the players and the atmosphere of gyms packed with people and the energy that comes with it.
Q. What makes your sport unique?
A. What makes basketball unique is that you need all 5 players on the floor to be doing their job and to be working together. If one person is not, it can affect the entire team.
Q. What expectations do you have for your players?
A. Expectations are to be a coachable player who is working hard everyday at practice to improve individually, as well as to help the team in any way they can.
Q. Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A. Really don't know since we really didn't even get to have any off-season practices due to COVID, and we have not had practice yet this season.
Q. What do you want your players to take away from the season? A. I want my players to take away how precious each and every game is that they play. Dealing with the pandemic, it is showing everyone that games as well as entire seasons can be gone in the blink of an eye.
Q. How do you and your team plan on adjusting to the restrictions posed by COVID-19?
A. We are taking all precautions necessary to keep everyone involved safe. Pre-screening forms, temperature checks, social distancing, and mask-wearing will be implemented throughout the year.
