Written by: Jeralis Suero

I was able to speak with Coach Schmitt about the cheer team. Keep reading to find out more about this season!

Q: Who are your captains?

A: We don't have assigned captains.

Q: Who are your returning star players?

A: Karla and Sharlene are our returning flyers, along with some bases and backspots.

Q: What makes a good leader for your team?

A: Someone who understands that spots might need to be changed in order for the team to succeed.

Q: What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?

A: The best thing about cheer is how far it has come within our Big North league. It is not just cheering on the sidelines anymore.

Q: What makes your sport unique?

A: There are multiple aspects that go into a routine such as stunting, tumbling, dancing, and jumps. These are all on the scoresheet.

Q: What are you and the team working on in practice?

A: We are working on stunts and transitions.

Q: What expectations do you have for your players?

A: We expect them to work hard every day and to keep increasing the skill difficulty.

Q: What do you want your players to take away from the season?

A: With hard work, anything is possible.

Good luck to the cheer team this season! Go Raiders!
