Q&A With CPHS Football Coach, Tom Mandile

Happy football season! For this season, Mr. Mandile sits down with me to review the football team’s fundamentals.

Who are your captains?

Our captains are Brandon Gul, Kevin Berberian, Dariell Dopico, Jorge Gonzalez, and Adam A.

Who are your returning star players?

Our returning star players are Brandon Gul, Kevin Berberian, Dariell Dopico, Jeremiah Turner, and Adam A.

What makes a good leader for your team?

A good leader is someone who demonstrates leadership through their actions, body language, and everything that occurs outside of the playing field.

What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?

The best thing about football is the competition and the skill it takes to focus mentally for the majority of the week, only to perform once a week at a high level.

What makes your sport unique?

Our sport is unique because although we practice and prepare 95% of the week, we play only once a week.

Where do you expect the team to rank this season?

I do not set expectations. I want us to get better with every rep throughout our practices.

What are you and the team working on in practice?

My team is preparing for our next opponent through film study, conditioning, and physical reps.

What expectations do you have for your players?

The expectations that I have for my players are to hold themselves and their teammates accountable on a regular basis.

What do you want your players to take away from the season?

I want my players to take away that through hard work and preparation, one puts themselves in a position to be successful on a regular basis.
