The 2021 girls basketball season is soon to be underway! Here is what Coach Cerone had to say about her expectations for the upcoming season.
Q. Who are this season's captains?
A. Undecided for the moment, but decisions will be made once the season officially begins.
Q. Who are your returning star players?
A. Star returning players include: Maya Winters, Ashanti Sattan, and Daisy Banegas
Q. What makes a good leader for your team?
A. A good leader for my team is someone who is dedicated, vocal, supportive, and encouraging.
Q. What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?
A. The best part about coaching this sport is watching the girls develop as players and as people.
Q. What makes your sport unique?
A. The creativity afforded to all players in customizing their game and showcasing their individual strengths makes this sport unique.
Q. Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A. We are looking forward to having competitive games this season.
Q. What are you and the team working on in practices?
A. We haven't started practice yet, but there will be a heavy focus on fundamentals and skill development, as well as a more aggressive defense.
Q. What expectations do you have for your players?
A. My expectation for my players is to consistently put in the work and try their best -- on the court, at school, and in life.
Q. What do you want your players to take away from the season?
A. A big takeaway from this season should be to always work hard, remain committed, and most importantly, have fun.
Q. How do you and your team plan on adjusting to the restrictions posed by COVID-19?
A. We plan on adjusting just by taking things day by day and maintaining a flexible and fluid mindset.
