Written by: Jeralis Suero
Q: Who are your captains?
A: Veronica Correa
Q: Who are your returning star players?
A: Deziray Nieves, Veronica Correa, Sophia Toro
Q: What makes a good leader for your team?
A: Being able to hold teammates accountable, and direct others both verbally and by example.
Q: What is the best thing about your sport and/or coaching it?
A: I've always had a passion for basketball. Being able to pass on my knowledge of the game, and help players develop over the season is something I enjoy.
Q: What makes your sport unique?
A: We are a very close knit group, as there are a lot of players from last year.
Q: Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A: This year, I expect the team to fall in the middle of the league. We are young and still developing. Hopefully, as the season progresses, we can find players stepping into leadership roles.
Q: What are you and the team working on in practice?
A: We work on getting better every day. We analyze what we struggled with in the previous game, and use that to guide practices and develop our skills more.
Q: What expectations do you have for your players?
A: I expect everyone to work hard during practices and games. When asked to do something by a coach, I expect them to respond and make the correction.
Q: What do you want your players to take away from the season?
A: After this season, I want the girls to be proud of the progress and development they have made. I hope they are excited about how we did and look forward to next year, as many of the girls are returning.
