Q&A with CPHS’ Girls Volleyball Coach, Mr. Brunelli
Winne Zhao
The Girls Volleyball season has started! For this season, Mr. Brunelli sits down with me to talk about the key to the team’s success.
Q. Who are your captains?
A. Our captains are Senior Julianna Baldwin, Alexa Bigler, and Jasmin Garcia.
Q. Who are your returning star players?
A. The three captains, Julianna Baldwin, Alexa Bigler, and Jasmin Garcia, and Meadow Aligo, are our returning star players.
Q. What makes a good leader for your team?
A. On court and off court, I believe that they lead by example and are driven to inspire others. I expect them to be vocal on court and in practice and be able to give their 100% in anything they do, whether it be in the sports or in a classroom setting.
Q. What makes your sport unique?
A. As one of the many few indoor games, it’s a very action-packed sport filled with excitement. At the end of the day, it’s up to the players on who wins by the way they play and act on court with the expectations of being a good leader and role model. It’s the fact that any given day, any team can win.
Q. Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A. I expect us to win more games than we lose.
Q. What are you and the team working on in practice?
A. Getting reps in all aspects of the game, finding individual issues on court, and fixing them.
Q. What expectations do you have for your players?
A. I expect them to be role models. I expect them to embody what it means to be a student-athlete as well as being an academic achiever in school, being able to put in their fullest effort on court and in class.
Q. What do you want your players to take away from the season?
A. I want them to look back at the season and have positive memories. I also want them to remember the family bond that the team has created.
Thank you to Coach Brunelli for his time. We wish the Girls Volleyball team luck in all their upcoming games!
