Soccer's Goals for the Season =)
A new school year means a new soccer season! Here is what the coaches of our boys and girls teams had to say about the 2020 season, beginning with Coach Cibelli, for girl’s soccer.
Q: Who are your captains?
A: Seniors, Stephanie Hic, Daisy Banegas, and Samantha Gomez.
Q: Who are your returning star players?
A: Most starters from last year: Nicole Valles, Priscilla Alvarez, Stephanie Hic, Daisy Banegas, Samantha Gomez, Saly Mouybed.
Q: What makes a good leader for your team?
A: Lots of good leaders lead by example, sometimes they are vocal, but they definitely need to be a role model. They are the bridge between the coaching staff and the players.
Q: Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A: With the shortened season, but a year under my belt as the coach, I am looking for some more goals and wins to finish in the middle of the pack when it comes to our league.
Q: What are you and the team working on at practices?
A: The first week was fitness focused, as well as touches on the ball. We will get into situational drills like offense and defense, where to play the ball, and how to play with pace.
Q: What expectations do you have for your players?
A: To improve everyday. To have the ability to deal with adversity and become better athletes. The mindset to make the uncomfortable become comfortable, that's how they grow as a player and a person.
Next I interviewed Coach Cambareri, the boys soccer coach:
Q: Who are your captains?
A: Limver Quevedo, Alvaro Rodriguez, Arjanit Isufi
Q: Who are your returning star players?
A: Limver, Alvaro, Arjanit, Kerry Quevedo, Christian Argueta, Johnny Vivar, and Gerson Gonzalez.
Q: What makes a good leader for your team?
A: Someone who is responsible and committed. Someone who is a hard worker and makes not only themselves better, but also makes other players better.
Q: Where do you expect the team to rank this season?
A: I'm not worried about ranking, as long as we are playing hard and trying to do the right things, we will be exactly where we need to be.
Q: What are you and the team working on at practices?
A: In practice we are working on our tactics and our fundamental skills.
Q: What expectations do you have for your players?
A: My expectations of my players are very simple; show up everyday to make yourself better and do the best you can on and off the field.
Lastly, I wish both teams the best of luck for this season!
