The Beauty of Snow Days
Snow days are one of the most all-time favorite things about winter especially during the holidays. Whether you are staying in or going out, everything just feels more complete when little snowflakes sink into the ground to form a gorgeous covering.
These past few years, our area has not seen more than three inches of snow each winter. However, that all changed this winter. A winter snowstorm warning was put into effect for more than 60 million people in the Northeast On December 16, 2020, a full-blown snowstorm formed and lasted until the late afternoon on December 17, 2020. My favorite part of a heavy snow day is when the schools are closed, and I get to go sledding! However, times have changed and so due to remote learning, school cannot be canceled. Even though this past snow day has not resembled the snow days we are used to, you can always still go out and do the amazing things that make a snow day so special!
After school, my siblings and I went to our backyard and witnessed the beauty of nature. The shimmery white bed of snow lying before us encouraged us to make snow angels and build huge forts to prepare for our upcoming snowball fight! After, we took our dog out so he could enjoy the snow with us. It was his first time actually experiencing the feeling of snow and he loved it! We did not have sleds, so we used garbage lids to slide on. You can pretty much use your imagination when it comes to sledding.
We spent the whole day outside, so it was pitch-black out when we finally decided to go inside. When I walked into the house, the smell of hot chocolate filled the air. My whole family sat in the living room and drank hot chocolate while watching Christmas movies together. Even if you don’t go sledding, build a snowman, or battle with your siblings in a competitive snowball fight, there are so many other amazing things you can do if you get to stay in on a snow day. The best part about a snow day though is spending time with those you love most!
